Lovely 4 Bed home in Humbie, Scotland
Humbie Dean is a charming timber-clad house which dates from the 1940’s and is situated in a secluded, rural position, in the foothills of the Lammermuirs, surrounded by a two-acre wooded garden. The house is bordered on three sides by mature woods; bounded by two streams; and approached from a minor public road. The village of Humbie is about 1 mile distant.
We are well located for access to Edinburgh (17 miles - 35/40 mins) and its World Heritage site Old and New Towns, and Haddington (10 miles - 15 mins), which provides shops, banks, restaurants and professional services.
East Lothian is well known for its coastline and its golf courses, with Muirfield, Luffness, Archerfield, Gullane and North Berwick within 35 minutes drive. There are good opportunities locally for field sports, with low ground shooting on nearby estates and grouse shooting in the Lammermuirs. Salmon fishing can be taken on the River Tweed, Scotland’s most prolific salmon river. The area has excellent riding.
The key feature of the house is the double height drawing room with windows on three elevations, direct access into the garden and a large fireplace with a wood burning stove. There is a double ground floor bedrooms with a large en-suite bathroom and two further double bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor.
We also have a three-bedroomed eco-cottage in Shieldaig, a small coastal village of less than 100 people in the remote north west of Scotland, which offers wonderful walking, sailing, mountain biking, climbing and Munro-bagging which we would consider exchanging. Shieldaig is about 225 miles from Humbie.
