Comfortable house on the south coast
Our house is situated on a small, quiet estate. It is about a 10 minute walk to the nearest beach ( where wind surfing was invented in 1958!) It is an eight minute drive to the bridge giving access to the mainland.
On the first floor there is a large bedroom with a king size bed and en suite shower room, a double bedroom and a twin bed room with a family bathroom with bath and shower.
Downstairs are a sitting room with dining area, a small sitting room, a kitchen and a downstairs cloakroom. The sitting room has a wall mounted T.V. The kitchen is equipped with a double oven, hob, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a tumble dryer in the garage.
There is a small but private garden at the rear of the house with a garden table and chairs and a conservatory.
About the location
There is a bus service from the end of our road into Havant, the nearest town, from where trains go frequently to London and other cities in the south of England. There is also a small passenger ferry on the S.W. coast giving a direct link to Southsea and Portsmouth.
Hayling Island has a narrow coastal strip where the Oyster beds and North Common on the north coast are an important habitat for overwintering wildfowl. There are a variety of places to eat and drink on the island plus some small supermarkets and other shops and an excellent Health Centre.
Portsmouth with all its naval history and the Mary Rose exhibition is 5 miles away. Gunwharf Quays is a harbourside area in Portsmouth, built on the site of a former naval base. There are numerous retail outlets, bars, restaurants, a multiplex cinema and other entertainments, many with waterside views. Southsea has a number of excellent restaurants. Chichester is 8 miles away and has a first class theatre, a cathedral, museum and art gallery. Petersfield, Midhurst, Petworth, Arundel and the South Downs National Park are all within easy reach as is the Weald and Downland Museum, an open air museum where you can see vernacular buildings and historical displays. Chichester Harbour, an AONB site, borders the east coast of the island. Emsworth and Bosham are attractive harbour side villages to visit. You can catch a ferry or a hovercraft for a short crossing to the Isle of Wight from Portsmouth.
