Modern single level house - Port Macquarie

Our house is a sunny modern (built 2015) single level residence with a large kitchen, open-plan combined living/dining rooms, laundry facilities, and a double garage. 4 bedrooms providing sleeping accommodation with two king size beds in bedrooms 1 and 2 and a large single bed in each of bedrooms 3 and 4 ( both also used as studies ) Outside is a generous patio and a garden largely planted with Australian natives to encourage the native birds. Solar power is installed , it also provides the hot water , and some of the household water is sourced from our own large rain water tank in the garden.

The downtown shopping precinct is a convenient 20 minute walk from the house., or a 5 minute drive .The lifesaver patrolled surf beach is a 10 minute walk.

Our VW sedan car is available for exchange through negotiation.

About the location

Port Macquarie is a moderately large town (pop. 40,000) on the New South Wales coast roughly midway between Sydney and Brisbane. It was founded in 1821 as a penal colony, and was established as a port to supply Sydney with timber during its rapid growth during the early colonial period.

Travelling time from Sydney (390 km to the south) is 5 hours by road or 7 hours by rail. A regional airport has services from Sydney and Brisbane(1 hour flights) the airport is a 10 minute drive from our house .
Tourist drives are popular north and south along the coastal roads to nearby villages and ports and to the pristine hinterland to the west where there are vineyards and National Parks that provide a natural environment for many koalas. Port Macquarie has its very own koala hospital for treating injured animals, and encourages free visits during feeding times. There is ample opportunity for long coastal walks on made pathways and along sandy beaches and through the local rainforest areas.

The town is the gateway to east Australia`s subtropical coast, and boasts one of the best climates in Australia. This and the several picturesque sandy beaches that fringe the town attract scores of holidaymakers from around the country, and allow for comfortable surfing for much of the year. The town also has extensive shopping facilities and an outdoor cafe ambience in keeping with its summery and mild year-round climate.

There are numerous surf beaches that are well used for water activities. Three of these are patrolled by lifeguards for 8 summer months.

Recreational sporting facilities and opportunities are in keeping with a town of this size especially as it is a summer vacation destination .
