La Royauté

La Royauté is a fully renovated farmhouse standing in a hectare of garden, chiefly grass and trees, with a small astronomical observatory. The property is one and a half kilometres from the village and is surrounded by farmland and woods.

The house provides a double bedroom, a bedroom/studio, a bathroom and a toilet on the ground floor, and a double bedroom with a shower room and toilet, and a study/bedroom on the first floor. There is an outbuilding which contains a laundryroom, a wine cellar, and storage for garden equipment. It comes with a part time housekeeper.

About the location

La Royauté lies at edge of the Loire Valley, fifteen kilometres from the medieval town of Chinon, the birthplace of Rabelais, and ten kilometres from the great Plantagenet abbey of Fontevraud. It is midway between the historic cities of Tours, Angers and Poitiers, and is an hour and a half from Paris.

There is a general store, a bakery and a restaurant in a neighbouring village, three kilometres from the house. Chinon provides a full range of restaurants, shops and hotels, a main market each Thursday morning and a smaller food market on Sunday mornings.
