Chequer Cottage
Sympathetically renovated 16th century detached cottage surrounded by a large garden. Apart from full CH fro an ASHP there are two wood burning stoves to ensure a cosey homely feeling on cold winter nights. There is annexed bed & breakfast facilities that will be closed during a house exchange. Normally the 2 month winter period when we wish to visit Majorca to see our children coincides with the two month low season for our B&B.
New Zealand is a place that we have always dreamt of visiting so our current plans centre on visiting there either in the winter of 2024/5 or the following year
We are 14 miles from Cambridge. 1.5 hours from London Heathrow and 30 minutes from London Stansted. 10 minutes from major east/west-north/south motorway intersections makes this an ideal base from which to explore the UK. London is one hour by train.
About the location
East Anglia offers a rich diversity of attraction and interests, from the inspirational city of Cambridge with its arts, academia and lively culture to the wide and open skies of North Norfolk. Not forgetting the wonderful county of Suffolk, with its picturesque "chocolate box" villages and country side which inspired the local artist John Constable. The Newmarket races, Imperial War Museum at Duxford and Ely Cathedral are just a few local highlights. A major winter highlight is " Carols at Kings " the famous carol service at King`s College Chapel which is open to the public and is broadcast worldwide.
