The mill building, which houses Serenity Inn the City, originally known as Leetham`s Mill and more recently, Rowntree Wharf. A once industrial building consists of five stories and a nine-storey water tower. In 1989 the mill was converted into apartments and now houses the newly renovated Cocoa Suites luxury development, which is home to Serenity Inn the City.
We have excellent public transport links close to the house and the train station is not far from the house.
The beautiful North Yorkshire Moors/Dales can be reached within 40 minutes by car, or alternatively the lively, cosmopolitan cities of Leeds, Manchester and historic Harrogate can all be easily reached too - this is one of the beauties of York - it is so central to so many places. York was the original Viking capital city (long before London) and remained a very important Royal City during history. King Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and many other Royals have a strong connection and history with our great city. Indeed, the current Duke of York, Prince Andrew regularly visits the city and its residents.
Also in the city centre, we have the beautiful York Minster (Cathedral) which is world-famous and has been regularly visited by the current HRH Queen Elizabeth II. We are also lucky to boast having one of the countries earliest schools in the history of the world! A famous former pupil is Guy Fawkes, (Gunpowder Plot of 1605 AD) also was born in the city and attended this school during the 1500s, but dates back to 627 AD, We have art galleries, museums, wonderful historic old English pubs, great places to eat.....come and see for yourself.
