Rennaldburn is a seventeenth-century farmhouse, the self-catering half of which sleeps seven to eight. (www.gonebeyond.co.uk) It’s reputedly the first house built by Thomas Telford under the apprenticeship of a master stonemason in his early teens.

Surrounded by pastureland, Rennaldburn sits secluded in three and a half acres, part of which is a wooded ravine with a beautiful waterfall running through it.

It’s about two miles South of Samye Ling Tibetan Centre (www.samyeling.org), near Eskdalemuir, a little village in-between Lockerbie and Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway near the English border. The nearest big town is Dumfries, Scotland (30 miles).
