Spacious Farmhouse, Near Brecon Beacons Mountains, Loads of Space
Spacious farmhouse with big gardens, near mountains, with lots of character, massive deck, firepit area and stunning views across the Black Mountains as far as Pen y Fan, a walled courtyard with firepit and trampoline, and no neighbours, all just five miles from book town Hay on Wye, a delightful small town renowned for bookshops, antique shops and the literary festival.
The house is set completely on its own with no near neighbours, but not secluded - it's set back from a minor road so no long tracks to negotiate. You might see the farmer come to feed the sheep but other than that you'll be alone.
It's wonderfully located with fantastic views, with unlimited opportunities for outdoor adventures nearby.
There is a huge flagstoned kitchen with everything you'll need for cooking including a dishwasher, a large kitchen table and doors opening to the garden and courtyard.
A big dining room with comfortable seating for at least eight and a massive open fire.
A cosy sitting room with tv and woodburner.
There are two huge double rooms, one with a king-size bed and en-suite shower room, and one with a double bed. The other two rooms are children's rooms, both with single beds that pull out into king-size beds if preferred. There is plenty of room to add extra children into these rooms if you wish, with spare mattresses available.
There's also a large family bathroom with bath and separate shower.
A big utility room and downstairs loo, with lots of room for muddy boots and wet coats.
You will have the whole house and gardens, except for one tiny bedroom in which I will keep personal items which will be kept locked. There are adjoining barns which are no entry, for safety and privacy reasons - they are full of hay, farm machinery and furniture, and the floor is unreliable.
About the location
Surrounded by mountains, the area is fabulous for walking, riding and cycling. There's a great stables just a few miles away; you can ride all day on the hills without touching a road. The River Wye is 4 miles away, with canoeing trips and fishing available, and plenty of places to swim.
You will be visiting an area of unique and outstanding beauty, with unrivalled opportunities for outdoor activities, as well as being close to the characterful book town of Hay-on-Wye, with a fantastic selection of independent shops, cafes, and events.
We have days of walking available in the mountains and hills, and are only a few hundred metres from the Offa's Dyke Path. Canoeing on the Wye to one of the lovely riverside pubs is a great way to spend a day, or just taking a picnic to one of the riverside beaches. The horseriding is superb. Cyclists seem to love it.
Alternatively, cosy up at home by the fire, or outside in the walled courtyard by the fire pit.
A car is needed unless you plan to walk or cycle here. Bus transport is available to Hay on Wye, and the nearest train stations are Hereford or Abergavenny.
