3 bedroom 1885 Victorian home in the Heart of Canada`s Capital!
We own a large (1700 square foot/158 sq. meter) 3-bedroom Victorian home on a quiet, tree-lined street in the city centre. Our location allows you to enjoy the peacefulness of a quiet street and yet be able to walk to all attractions and city amenities within 15 minutes. On the main floor there is a welcoming entryway which leads down the main hall, past our home office (with wireless Internet throughout the house, stereo, DVD, fax and TV), then one of our two full bathrooms and into our large, sun-drenched, eat-in kitchen. It contains a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker and all other modern cooking conveniences. The kitchen leads into our family room complete with queen-size pull-out sofa, TV, DVD, stereo, plenty of toys and two patio doors that are the gateway to our private garden. We have a deck with gas bar-b-que, table and chairs (perfect for morning coffee), and a 100 year old maple tree which provides shade and privacy during the summer months. The second floor contains three bedrooms, two with queen-sized beds, one double bed. Two single beds can also be placed in the office if required. Also on this floor is the second full bathroom. Laundry facilities are in the basement. The house has central air conditioning for the summer months, and gas heat for the winter.
About the location
Ottawa is Canada`s capital and 4th largest city. It is also one of (if not "the") most beautiful cities in all of Canada. As the national capital, Ottawa has all the amenities you would expect in a capital city. There are national museums (many of which are within walking distance from our home) 25 art galleries, numerous drama and stage theaters, the National Performing Arts Center (orchestra, ballet and concerts), and all federal buildings including Parliament Hill. Due to Ottawa`s location on the border of Quebec and Ontario, our city is perfectly bilingual in English and French. Even though we live in the heart of the city, we are never more than a few minutes from Canada`s famous natural beauty. Ottawa is a city devoted to nature and greenery. There are 450 kilometres of nature trails, another 250 kilometres of paved bike trails, 12 fresh water beaches, federal and provincial parks, and recreational activities such as white-water rafting and boat rentals a short drive from the downtown. Ottawa hosts 14 international festivals including the Jazz Festival, the Blues Festival, the Tulip Festival, the National Winter Carnival ("Winterlude") and the Hot Air Balloon Festival. the world`s largest Chamber Music Festival, Ottawa is ideally located 2 hours west of Montreal (an easy day trip), 1 hour north of the American boarder (New York`s White Mountains and Vermont`s Green Mountains) and equal distant between Toronto (Canada`s largest city) and Quebec City (Ottawa`s rival for Canada`s most beautiful city).
We live in the Centertown district of Ottawa. We are a short walk to grocery stores, countless restaurants, shops, nightclubs, pubs, museums, the Parliament Buildings, cafes and public transportation.
Ottawa is the perfect city for both romantic and family vacations. Discover the picturesque picnic places, walk through the amazing gardens at Rideau Hall, stroll beside the festive canal, or lose yourself (and probably some cash) at one of our two casinos. If you are a family, all the national museums are designed with both adults and children in mind. There are 2 play areas (both 2 blocks away from our home) with swings, slides and play structures, children`s swimming pools and some supervised activities. Children and adults will love the street entertainers on Sparks Street or the Canada Day fireworks display on Parliament Hill.
