About the location

Southport is a Victorian seaside resort about 10 miles north of Liverpool. Lord Street was the model for the boulevards of Paris. There is a large salt water lake which provides opportunities for boating and sailing.

House in street about 10 mins walk from town centre. Excellent for shops, pubs, restaurant and frequent train service to Liverpool. Convenience store / ATM 100 ft.

Beaches 15-20 mins walk.

The Sefton coast is classified as an area of special scientific interest. Vast sandy beaches and outstanding sand dunes make it a great place for walking and for children. Most of the beaches are dog friendly. Formby National Trust area is a short drive or train ride away. Southport is very cycle friendly and the Trans Pennine cycle / walking path starts from here.

The Martin Mere wildlife refuge is within 30 minutes.

Southport has a wide choice of restaurants and pubs within walking distance of the house. It is the home of the Royal Birkdale Golf Course, where the Open and Ryder Cup are played. There are several other first-rate links courses. The Southport flower show and many other events are held in Victoria Park and there are theatres and a large cinema.

2017 British Open Golf

Our home is 2 miles from Royal Birkdale, the famous venue for the 2017 Open Golf Championship ( July 17-23). It is also close to qualifying courses such as Hillside and West Lancashire. The area contains some of the best links golf courses in the world.

Nearby Liverpool is one of the best-rated locations to visit in the world. It is the home of the Beatles, an excellent heritage area and maritime museum, Tate and Walker art galleries, theatres, restaurants, etc. It is also home to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and the Everyman Theatre. Liverpool One is a leading new retail attraction.
Liverpool is also home to two Premiership football clubs. including Liverpool FC, five times European Champions; it is possible to tour the Liverpool stadium.

Southport and Liverpool are linked by good roads and an excellent railway service.

We are in easy reach of the Pennines, the Fylde ( for Blackpool), the beautiful Trough and Forest of Bowland, Manchester and the Lake District.
