My top-floor Victorian flat has one double bedroom, a dining room, study, newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. Built in 1896 as social housing and now home to a colourful mix of East Enders, the apartment has original sash windows, wooden floors and lots of charm! Stepney is a great base for exploring East London; only 5 mins walk to the tube or 20 mins to the river.

Please note: the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there is no lift.

About the location

Stepney is the real East End. It's close to Hipster-ville (Shoreditch/Hoxton), if that's what you want, but my neighbourhood is still predominantly residential, demonstrating multi-cultural London at its best.

Within a twenty-minute walk, you can visit the Whitechapel Gallery for contemporary art; Brick Lane for street markets and curry; Columbia Road for the Sunday flower market; Stepney or Hackney City Farms for wholesome food and some fun with the farm animals; the old docks and the river Thames, blending historic wharfs and pubs with the newest bars and restaurants; Victoria Park and Regents Canal for long walks or bike rides. Right on my doorstep is the fabulous Genesis cinema, also the bustling Whitechapel street markets.

The nearest tube station is Stepney Green (Hammersmith & City / District lines) which is five minutes walk to the east. Whitechapel station (H&C / District / Overground lines) is 10 minutes walk to the west. Bus routes 25 and 205 also run very nearby, going to Oxford Circus (via Bank) and Paddington (via the City and Baker Street) respectively. There is plenty to do within 20-30 minutes walk if you want to avoid public transport.

The most convenient airport is City; Stansted has connecting airport trains and coaches going into Liverpool Street station; Gatwick has connecting airport trains into Victoria station. Luton and Southend are also viable options. Heathrow is on the tube but takes about 1hr 40 minutes.
