Comfortable family house in Leeds, Yorkshire

Welcome to our 5-bedroom family house in the City of Leeds. We have a sitting room with wood-burning stove, a sun room with piano and lots of lego, a dining room which seats 12, a kitchen, and another downstairs room which can be used for sleeping or sitting. There is a downstairs toilet.

Upstairs there are four more bedrooms and two bathrooms, one with bath and one with shower. The parents' room has a waterbed - although if the (semi-waveless) waterbed is not to your taste, there are other double beds/comfortable futons.

In our garden there is a private south facing area for sitting, and for eating outside in good weather. There is a large park with woodlands, stream and large playground for all ages nearby.

Our pets would be very happy to meet you! We have three cats, a rabbit, three guinea pigs and three chickens, who provide fresh eggs every day. The guinea pigs are willing to be cuddled and enjoy eating dandelion leaves out of your hand.

It may be possible for you to use our car (Daihatsu Sirion) if you pay for the insurance,

About the location

We live in a residential area, with good public transport links, local walks and footpaths, and great opportunities to experience all kinds of British culture:

We are near the historic towns of York, Harrogate, Ilkley, Whitby and Saltaire, or you could have a day trip to the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey or Bridlington. Haworth (home of the Brontes) and the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors are nearby.

British Council accredited English courses are close by: www.leedslanguages.co.uk

Leeds itself has the Headingley Cricket Ground and Rugby Grounds, and Leeds United Football Club. There are several good family-friendly museums and art galleries, and four theatres, including Leeds Grand Theatre which is home to the Royal Northern Ballet and Opera North. The shopping in Leeds City Centre is excellent, with many designer shops and even Harvey Nichols in the historic Victoria Quarter of Leeds.

Bolton Abbey, Harewood House, Fountains Abbey, Templenewsam, Lotherton Hall, Kirkstall Abbey and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park are all interesting cultural day trips, or if you are interested in historic steam railways we have the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, the Bolton Abbey Railway and the North York Moors Railway to visit.

A short walk from our home there are several lovely traditional English family pubs, two with playgrounds for children, including one where you can watch village cricket at the weekends, and one with a particularly good range of real ale and other interesting beers.

It is 5 minutes' walk to an excellent supermarket (Waitrose) and other local shops, cafes and a very good little Italian restaurant.
