Historic cottage in Stellenbosch

Our home is a historic semi-detached cottage (built in the 1860s) in in a secure complex in the centre of the picturesque university town of Stellenbosch, nestled amid the mountains and vineyards of one of the best wine production areas in South Africa.

The house is 70 sq meters in size and has one bedroom, a lounge/dining room and a study in the loft. There is a sleeper couch for two in the lounge, which could be used as a short term prospect for visitors, while our study has all the modcons, internet, airconditioning, printer, etc. Our small garden is secluded and mostly selfcontained, with an automatic irrigation system. Arrangements could be made to use our car which is a Renault Scenic.

About the location

The University, the third oldest in South Africa, has a distinguished record as a research driven institution and is currently listed among the top 300 universities in the world. In addition, the region (including the historic towns of Somerset West, Paarl and Franschhoek) is famous for its cultural activities (festivals, concerts, theatre, art and museums, etc), its many weekly markets, and its distinctive South African cuisine. The cosmopolitan city of Cape Town and its many attractions is only 50 kilometres away and our nearest beaches a mere 20 minutes by car. The magnificent coastal region offers numerous opportunities for bathing, aquasports, whale watching, and hiking, as do the many mountain trails and parks in the region.
