Historic 1st floor flat with balcony in the heart of Bath
Our apartment is on the principal floor of a house built in 1791 by Thomas Baldwin, one of Bath's most famous architects. Baldwin also designed the Pump Room, the Guildhall and much of Great Pulteney Street. We are very lucky that so much of the historic interior remains, including the floor to ceiling windows with their Georgian wooden shutters, and much of the plaster decoration. There is a sofa bed in the drawing room so the flat could hold 2 additional adults or teenagers at a stretch. The house is ideally located, just 10 minute's walk from the main shopping and dining establishments in Bath and the Roman Baths Museum, and 5 minute's walk from the Holburne Museum. The Kennett and Avon Canal is nearby and in 10 minutes along the tow path, you can be enjoying the countryside.
About the location
The UNESCO World Heritage site of Bath is one of Britain's most beautiful small cities. The city is easily reached from London by train. Bath is famous for its Roman Baths Museum, built over the hot water spring that was sacred to the Romans. Many of the 18th century buildings of the city are still intact, from grand streets such as the Royal Crescent, the Circus and Great Pulteney Street, to terraces of more modest, but very beautiful family houses. Bath has more than architecture, however, with a good programme of Festivals, restaurants, shopping, great book shops, and a modern spa that taps into the same sacred spring used by the Romans.
