A nice terraced house at the border of forest and sea and close to Amsterdam

The beach, forest and Amsterdam just round the corner. Our home is a terraced house in a green and quiet cul de sac. It`s beautiful situated close to forest (1/2 a mile) and sea (3 miles). The forest is on your doorstep and you can (when the wind is strong) smell the sea from your very own window. You can ride bicylce (also special mountainbike routes through forest and dunes), walk, swim or visit the nearby cheesemarket in Alkmaar (3 miles). Amsterdam is 20 miles and you can take the direct intercity train which departs from Alkmaar. We welcome children; we have children bikes and ofcourse lots of toys. The village is a well known artist residence and is unique in its architectual style. A nice place to get a cup of tea or visit the cinema in the forest for the latest movies. Or you can enjoy the large museum which offers a large variety of (international) art. But if you want to entertain your children visit the local swimmingpool in the village, play midgetgolf or enjoy the amusementpark.

About the location

Since about 1900, Bergen has been the home of many painters, writers and architects. Some of the work of this "Bergen School" is on exhibit at Museum Kranenburgh. The neighbourhood of Park Meerwijk, constructed in 1915, is made up entirely of villas in Amsterdam School style. There are regular art fairs in Bergen, as well as an annual music festival (the Holland Music Sessions in August) and arts festival (the Kunsttiendaagse in October).

North of the town of Bergen are the Schoorlse Duinen, a nature area with the highest and widest dunes of the Netherlands, which reach about 59m (195 ft) above sealevel, and are more than 5 km (3.1 mi) wide in some places.
