Wern Ddu

Wern Ddu is a modern house located in the Brecon Beacons national park. We are only 2.5 miles from Hay on Wye, one of the most vibrant and busy rural towns in the UK.
The house is modest and functional, but the location is jaw-dropping. Our 6 acres of paddocks are surrounded by 30,000 acres of common land and the house looks out towards Hay Bluff. You need to be adventurous to live here, but this is repaid with fantastic views and awe-inspiring scenery.
We have 2 double rooms and 1 twin (bunk beds). The kitchen has a log-burning Esse heater (with small oven) as well as a standard electric cooker. There is a cosy sitting room with another log-burner, and a utility plus downstairs shower room.
Outside chickens, a pony and a horse live here too. If you are able to feed and keep an eye on them that would be just great. There are epic walks to be had outside our front door, along with bike rides and plenty of other adventures (climbing, wild swimming, pony trekking, etc).

About the location

Our house sits at the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons national park. The nearest town, Hay on Wye, is home to the world famous literary festival (late May each year) as well as a plethora of book shops.
Our house sits in Wales, and the Offa's Dyke path (which marks the ancient England-Wales border) is less than a mile from our door. England is in sight of the house too, and Herefordshire is a beautiful, unspoilt, rural county known for its cider, cattle and pretty villages.
