Relaxing or active holiday near Lake Garda, romantic Verona and Venice - Italian village in wine valley

Welcome! We welcome guests to stay with us in our three-floor semi-detached house in a quaint village located in the beautiful Illasi valley on the outskirts of the ancient city of Verona. At specific times of the year when we are away travelling as a family, our whole house MAY be available, sleeping 6 upstairs + 2 downstairs.

If we, or the girls are home, our independent access ground-floor studio flat is available all-year round with a very spacious wood-panelled room with its own terrace where you can enjoy a glass of local Soave (the enchanting walled town and castle of Soave is a fifteen minute drive away) or Valpolicella wine or have a bbq overlooking the green hillside and cherry groves.
The room is furnished with a long wooden dining table and chairs, has cooking facilities, large fridge, sofa and double bed (2 single beds or an extra single bed in addition to the double, are available on request during summer). There is a private bathroom with a shower and washing machine (note: we need to access the washing machine once a week if we are home).

For the winter months as well as central heating, there is a traditional wood-burning stove (firewood provided!) which I love to cook on/in and a log-fireplace for a warm and cozy atmosphere after winter sports or sightseeing. The gentle breeze which blows down the dry river from the nearby mountains will keep you cool in the summer. Upstairs (for 3+ people) we have a double (with large balcony), a single and a triple childrens` bedroom, a spacious kitchen (seating 6/8) opening onto a balcony, lounge and bathroom with large shower.

We have a large (and rather wild) garden with cherry, fig, pomegranate and pear trees equipped with a table, umbrella and chairs, a swing (a pool may be assembled during the summer months). You are welcome to use our mountain bikes on the track that starts right behind our house (also to cycle to the next village on safe cycle lane). There are many hiking routes nearby and the mountain tracks of the Lessinia area, outdoor ice-rink, ski slopes and resorts are just a short drive away.

WiFi access is available. Airport/station pick-up/meet may be agreed.

About the location

We live in a quaint village in the hills on the outskirts of Verona. A bread and cheese shop is just 30 seconds round the corner for fresh local cheese, ham and other essentials. Two bars and a restaurant/pizzeria are a 5-minute walk away. There are vineyards and cherry groves and charming farmsteads all around but the centre of Verona is only an easy half-hour drive away and Venice about an hour and 15 minutes drive. The location is very convenient for several airports (BA, Easyjet/Ryanair/VoloTea fly to Verona and/or Venice) and all the main tourist sites of the Veneto region including the Garda lake and beaches.

For the sporty, there are many hiking/biking routes nearby, a speedway track and the mountain tracks, outdoor ice-rink, ski slopes and resorts are just a short scenic drive away. A newly-built cycle path takes you right to the spectacular mountain village of Giazza and is a lovely walk in all seasons.

If you`re a foodie you`ll be spoilt for choice with many local trattorie and osterie serving delicious, reasonably priced, Italian fare and in Verona, a short drive away, you can enjoy the many pavement cafés, pizzerias and restaurants with enchanting views of the river or ancient Roman and medieval monuments!

A sports center with horse riding, a gym and indoor and outdoor swimming pools is just a 10 minute drive away and there is a well-known pizzeria / restaurant with play-park at just 2 minutes walking distance for your evening meals if you don`t feel like cooking for yourselves and others only a short drive away.
