The cottage has two bedrooms with double beds, one with 2 single beds. The bedrooms are compact but comfortable with lovely views. There is a spacious living room overlooking the garden and a fully equipped kitchen/ diner. One modern bathroom has a bath and shower, the other one adjoining the second toilet has a shower and wash basin.
There is a large attractive south facing back garden looking up into the Mendip Hills. Ideal for eating outside. The vegetable patch and fruit trees are at the far end.
In front of the cottage shielded by shrubs from the quiet lane, there is a sunny patio with bench and table. Ideal for enjoying the sun setting over the Mendip hills.
About the location
The cottage is Ideally positioned on the slopes of the Mendip Hills facing south to the Somerset Levels in a quiet old hamlet with 14 century church. There are two family friendly pubs with gardens and good dining options within walking distance or a few minutes drive.
It is also 2 miles from medieval small town of Axbridge with shops, pubs and restaurants and a good farmers market every month. There are many walking possibilities from the cottage door up the well known beauty spot Crook Peak which leads to Mendip Way, a historic walking route along the spine of the Mendips. Cheddar with the gorge and caves is a 2 hours walk or 10 minute drive. For those who like flatter walks there is a gentle stroll along the Yeo valley from the cottage or around Cheddar reservoir. The Somerset levels have nature reserves beloved of birdwatchers and open to all for strolling in this unique landscape.
You are spoilt for good country pubs, including the renowned Queen Victoria in Priddy, the highest Village in the Mendips, and the Sheppey Inn, Lower Godney, on the Somerset levels, 5 minutes from Glastonbury, terrific food and wine with outdoor dining on the river side.
If you are after fish and chips try Burnham on Sea, with deserted beaches and sand dunes, farmers shops and local bakeries, or Weston-super-mare, which has a marina for outside swimming.
Bath and Bristol offer theatres, music venues and museums.
30 minutes drive to Wells and Glastonbury. 45 minutes to Bristol and 1hour drive to Bath with theatres, music venues and museums as well as restaurants and shops. 20 minutes to Weston-super-mare good for families with seaside attractions as well as many supermarkets. Same distance to the famous Somerset Wetlands National Nature Reserve with starling murmurations, bitterns, egrets and many more.
