Oxford "pied-à-terre"
Alda and I live most of the year in a tiny (really small) flat in a building for "independent living for the over 60" as they call it. It is situated in a very good part of Oxford, the very trendy Jericho neighbourhood, near many restaurants, near the Oxford common "Port Meadow", with a few famous pubs within walking distance, the Ashmolean Museum also within walking distance and with a bus top not far where you can get buses to Blenheim in Woodstock or the other way into the centre of town.
This is a rented property we do not own this property. But occasionally with enough time to plan it and organise it all we can enter into a short term exchange (less than 25 days at a time). It will all depend on whether Alda or I can leave Oxford at particular dates and also on whether we can get our two cats into a cattery and so on.
Complicated but not impossible. So if you live in places like Manhattan, S. Francisco, Carmel, Copenhagen, Rome, the south of France, in short in so-called "prime" towns/cities and you can plan freely then if you want to spend time in Oxford contact us!
As I said this flat is extremely small, the shower room (wet room type) is tiny, but we have a little back garden and the location is great. It is really more like a student`s "den" but its on the ground floor which we think is great. Very quiet and private at the back of the building. No children allowed. Communal laundry. But kitchenette runs along the wall of the "living area" has four ceramic hobs, a good electric oven and a dishwasher. There is also a microwave and a fridge-freezer. Internet. TV with circa 65 channels! Books. We are in the process of re-arranging bedroom furniture and a few other things so no details here and now.
About the location
From WIKIPEDIA:
JERICHO
Post town OXFORD
Postcode district OX2
Jericho is an historic neighbourhood of the English city of Oxford.[1] It consists of the streets bounded by the Oxford Canal, Worcester College, Walton Street and Walton Well Road. Located outside the old city wall, it was originally a place for travellers to rest if they had reached the city after the gates had closed. The name Jericho may have been adopted to signify this `remote place` outside the wall.
This was originally an industrial area which grew up because of its proximity to the Oxford Canal, which arrived in 1790. The Eagle Ironworks (now redeveloped into apartments), wharves and the Oxford University Press were based there and its residential streets are mostly `two-up, two-down` Victorian workers` houses. With back streets of 19th century terraced housing and many restaurants, it has become a popular area for students.
