Straw bale Home in Périgord Vert
Our home is a characterful eco (straw bale) house - we have done a large part of the construction ourselves. It has beautiful lime rendered walls and a relaxed ambiance with a beautiful garden surrounded by countryside views. It has a covered terrace with table and chairs for al fresco dining.
We have composting toliets and grey water is treated by a reed bed system.
We have a ginger neutered female cat that is fairly independent and comes and goes via a cat flap. She only needs some dry food and water put out in the kitchen. She is shy and so you may not get to see much of her!
About the location
Situated in a rural hamlet - a quiet rural area with small farms. You can get milk and fresh cheese from the local dairy farm (walking distance). Close to Thiviers which has supermarkets, a train station and a lively market on Saturday mornings. Canoeing is available on the river in the nearby village of Corgnac sur l`Isle. It is 30 mins by car to Périgueux and Brantôme (the Venice of the Périgord). There are many chateaux and caves around. The beautiful Dordogne valley is about an hour and a quarter drive.
