English Cottage in area of outstanding natural beauty
Our home is a pretty Cottage in the beautiful village of Hovingham on the outskirts of York, North Yorkshire. Hovingham was voted in the top 10 most desirable villages to live in the UK and has a wonderful Michelin star restaurant called Myse, a great bakery and a well stocked village shop.
The cottage is very tastefully decorated and clean and tidy. We have a very pretty garden with a few different areas to sit out in and listen to the birds with a cup of tea.
The main bedroom has a king size bed, the second bedroom has a double bed. We have one main bathroom and a WC downstairs.
We do have a dog for anyone with allergies although the dog will not be there and the house will be clean. We do not allow our dog upstairs.
Well behaved dogs are welcome to stay in our home and we would consider a swap in England where our well behaved dog would also be welcome.
Washing machine, dryer and dishwasher.
Very solid internet service.
About the location
The village of Hovingham is a rural village ion the outskirts of York, North Yorkshire surrounded by plenty of greenery and beautiful walks in the Howardian Hills. There are lots of charming villages within a 15 mile radius. The local area is a road bikers paradise with beautiful scenery everywhere you go. There are great restaurants in local villages, both cosy pub grub and Michelin star, whatever takes your fancy.
The beautiful Castle Howard is a ten minute drive away, the Castle was used to film the popular British TV series Bridgerton and is set in beautiful surroundings.
There is a theme park and Zoo 15 minutes drive away.
The east coast Is approximately 50 minutes drive with some lovely long stretches of unspoiled beach to walk on. If you want something a bit more lively from a beach then Scarborough or Whitby beach are both just under an hour away.
The village we live in has a Michelin star restaurant, a local shop, hair salon, coffee shop a great bakery and a very popular monthly market selling local produce. The historic city of York is a 35 minute drive with the beautiful York Minster and lots of lovely restaurants and quirky shops to see. London can be accessed in 1hour 50 minutes by train from York and Edinburgh in just under 2 hours 30 minutes.
