Extended Georgian House in UNESCO World Heritage Site, Nr Peak District

Our house is situated in Belper, in the heart of Derbyshire and home to the Industrial Revolution.

The house was originally built in the late 1700s and extended in 1825 and further extended and refurbed in 2023. It overlooks the Belper Chevin. The house has two reception rooms both with wood burning stoves and overlooking the garden (one of the rooms is my 4yr olds playroom complete with toys etc). We have a near brand new extended kitchen/ diner complete with range cooke, American fridge freezer, hot water tap and dishwasher, downstairs shower room and loo with utility room inc. washer and separate dryer.

To the upstairs are 4 good sized bedrooms configured in the following way - bedroom 1 king, bedroom 2 small double sofa bed, bedroom 3 is 2x singles in a trundle bed fashion and bedroom 4 can have a double airbed.

The property offers comfortable heritage style accommodation to enjoy everything that the Derwent Valley has to offer. With beautiful garden featuring summerhouse, outdoor kitchen, with fabulous views and parking for two, good sized cars off the road, it is a great place to have a short or long break. There is a gas bbq in the courtyard to allow people to bbq and eat indoors if it’s a bit on the chilly side.

Our home has an EV charge point and swappers are welcome to use it during off peak hours.

About the location

The town of Belper was awarded the title of Great British High Street winner in 2015 and 2019 and it boasts a range of independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Monk bar, Arthur’s and Scuffle pizzeria are our personal favourites. The nearby village of duffield has an exceptional wine bar (Bradmans) and one of the best Indian restaurants in the area (Viceroy). The city of derby is 8 miles south and the cities of Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds and London are all within direct rail routes. We are on a main bus route into Derby, Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton.

Close to all attractions of the Derbyshire dales and the Peak District inc. Matlock Bath, Gullivers Kingdom, Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall. Further afield is Hardwick Hall, the open air pool in Hathersage, Ilan Park and the towns of Wirksworth, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Buxton. There,s tonnes to do for all ages. Cyclists are very well catered for !
