A self-contained apartment in the tiny village of Lluçà in the Catalan Pyrenees.

El Palleret is a converted hayloft joined to a large farmhouse in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The farmhouse has been in the family since at least the 17th century, and is one of only four houses in the village.

The apartment is on the first floor above a downstairs room for boots, coats, bikes etc and the era, which is a walled outside area once used for keeping the animals in winter. This has a basic kitchen and firepit, which we use for cooking and eating outside. This isn`t the only option for outside dining as the flat has a big terrace accessed from the main living area, with BBQ and table / chairs.

The living area is open plan and has a modern kitchen (with electric oven, fridge-freezer, microwave and dishwasher) dining table and sitting area with sofa. There are french windows that open onto a balcony overlooking the era.

There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds. There is a small bathroom with a shower.

The property has two grape-producing vines which surround it and several trees which provide shade for the bedrooms, living room and the era during the summer.

About the location

Lluça is an ancient village of four houses nestled in a wooded valley. It is one of nine villages in the municipality of Senterada, many of which are either totally or partially abandoned. Three of the mountaintop villages can be seen from the terrace of the apartment and make excellent places to visit.

The river which passes along the floor of the valley, the Flamisell, has many beautiful spots to swim in and is easily accessed on foot or by car. There are loads of outdoor swimming spots nearby in lakes and rivers for cooling off in the summer.

The area offers world-class hiking, climbing, and canyoning opportunities and very easy access to the National Park of Aiguestortes. There are skiing, rafting, kayaking, horse riding and many other outdoor activities within easy reach and it`s also a perfect jump off point for road cycling and mountainbiking.

Food is another important aspect of the region. The produce here is excellent and we can tell you the best restaurants, butchers, wine and cheese shops and supermarkets to go to. You can even fish your own trout at a nearby fish farm.

There are no shops or services of any kind in the village. The nearest supermarket is in La Poble de Segur (9km). There is an excellent bar / restaurant in Senterada (3km).
