3-bed seaside apartment
My home is a spacious 3-bed ground floor seaside apartment. The beach is at the end of the garden.
The living room, middle room and first double bedroom all have large windows looking out to the seaside garden and the sea.
There is a second double bedroom and a single bedroom, a bathroom with shower and toilet, and a second shower room with toilet.
There is ample parking on the roadside of the property. I cannot offer a car swap as I do not own a car, but manage well with public transport. There are bikes for your use, and a kayak.
About the location
The apartment is in the seaside town of Weymouth, which has an extensive beach on an unspoilt Georgian seafront. There is a working harbour, with a good choice of pubs and restaurants.
Weymouth is on the Jurassic Coast and you can walk from the apartment on to the cliffs to join the Jurassic Coast Path.
Lodmoor Country Park and Lodmoor RSPB Nature Reserve are just 5 minutes away.
It is an easy walk along the seafront into town and the harbour. There are a number of boat trips from the harbour, and a rowing boat ferry across to the other side of the harbour and the Nothe Gardens, or you can walk across the Town Bridge.
There are tennis courts two minutes away, and a 9-hole pitch and putt in the park across the road.
The Isle of Portland is across the causeway from Weymouth, and the 18-mile Chesil Beach extends from there to West Bay. Portland is famous for its stone, which is still quarried on the island. There has been little traditional farming and the island has a rugged coastline, with rich plant and insect life.
The historic town of Dorchester is 8 miles away and can be reached by train or bus, or you can cycle there on the bike path.
The area is ideal for anyone who likes walking, cycling, sea swimming, water sports, bird watching, or would just like a break by the sea.
There are regular trains from London Waterloo to Weymouth, with a journey time of 3 hours, and the apartment is about 20 minutes’ walk along the seafront from the station.
There is a Jurassic Coaster bus which runs all the way from Weymouth to Axminster, stopping off at beautiful spots along the coast, including Abbotsbury, West Bay, Seaton and Lyme Regis. The top deck is open during the summer.
There would be no need for you to use a car if you would prefer not to, and I manage well without one.
The seaside location is beautiful in all seasons, whatever the weather.
