Family riverside London flat
This is an ideal place for a family to enjoy London in a riverside flat in an arty area in London. You will be based in a lovely area with artisan cafes and restaurants - and have great transport links to central London to visit classic tourist spots.
This 72 sq m apartment is on the first floor – it’s light and airy, and has a huge central open plan living space with three tall windows looking out onto the Walthamstow Marshes; we have wooden floors throughout. There`s a comfy sofa and two armchairs, to kick back on at the end of the day. Large fully equipped kitchen - at one end of the sitting room - with dining table and breakfast bar.
The flat is ideal for a family with one or two children.
Bedroom 1: The master bedroom has a king-sized bed for two adults.
Bedroom 2: The second bedroom has a bunk bed, which sleeps two children (or teenagers).
We have all mod cons including broadband Wifi, washing machine (including a dryer function), CD player, no TV - but unlimited Wifi if you want to watch things on your laptops, free parking within a few metres from the front door. The flat also has beautiful wooden floors in the hallways and the living room and modern stylish furnishings.
There`s a history to the building and it has a lot of character - it`s a former-ferryman`s house built in 1901 - later a pub called the Beehive. It was converted to flats in the 1970s and refurbished just before we moved in, in 2009. There`s a really lovely local pub about 20 metres from our flat, and it has an outdoor area for sunny days. It`s a quiet and small pub (no noise is allowed there after 11pm though we barely hear it in any case, it`s run independently, not a chain).
The flat has an outdoor patio area. We have a bench on the patio which is a great spot to sit and look at the Marshes, reading or drinking coffee!
This is a strictly no smoking household.
About the location
The flat is a 5-minute walk from the spectacular Springfield Park, charming local pubs and cafes within walking distance. This flat is ideal for a relaxing experience of London, combining the typical tourist activities in Central London with time to rest and recover in local cafes, with family-time in the nearby parks and playgrounds. We`ll give you lots of tips about local walks and cool cafes - so you can experience the city like a Londoner with our "insider knowledge"!
The independent cafes, shops and markets of Stoke Newington and Chatsworth Rd are nearby with excellent independent shops, bars & restaurants. Our favourite is Esters – a brilliant cafe in Stoke Newington which does almost the best coffee in London and has great, ready-made breakfast and lunch http://www.estersn16.com
The flat has excellent connections to central London, via bus, Underground, Overground train or cycling. You can be at most of London`s top sights in 45 minutes - and some are closer. According to Transport for London, the journey from our front door to St. Paul`s Cathedral is 45 minutes and Oxford Street is 50 minutes. Spitalfields Market - one of the best weekend markets in London with artisan stalls - is 20 minutes from our flat.
