Our family home has lots of character and a wonderful triple aspect dining/lounge area with open plan kitchen. The house has been fully modernised and refurbished throughout and offers flexible accommodation on three floors. We have two double bedrooms on the first floor next to the shower room/wc, with a single bed studio on the second floor and a separate wc/utility on the ground floor. Situated in a quiet no-through lane, we are only 5 minutes walk from the historic town centre with its bustling market place and cafes. We have off-road parking to the front/side of the house and pleasant sunny gardens to the front, side and rear of the house, with a large terrace, small garden pond and summerhouse in the rear garden.

About the location

Wallingford is a historic market town on the River Thames in South Oxfordshire. It is an old settlement: there are Saxon earthworks and the site of a Norman castle, set close to the river. The town has numerous cafes, pubs and restaurants, two supermarkets and a cinema run by volunteers (The Corn Exchange). There are plenty of independent shops in an around the market place, including antiques, collectibles, homewares, clothing, books, food and wine. Friday is traditional market day and we have a local producer's market on Saturday mornings. The crime writer Agatha Christie was a local resident and her former home is nearby.

Situated just off the main road between Oxford (12 miles) and Reading (14 miles), Wallingford is the perfect location for exploring the Thames Path, as well as the Chiltern Hills AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the Berkshire Downs with access to ancient paths such as the Ridgeway and Icknield Way. Public transport is excellent with regular bus services to Oxford, Reading and Henley, as well as Abingdon and Didcot. The nearest mainline rail stations are at Cholsey (3 miles) and Didcot (6 miles) with regular train services to London, Reading, Bristol and Bath. Heathrow is approximately one hour by car.
