Detached house with country views; 3 miles from York city centre
Our house sits on a small estate close to the village centre and has a very `open` aspect. There are views from the rear of the house over fields and trees. The patio is South West facing and gets sunshine throughout the day.
There are two double bedrooms, a music room with a futon bed and an additional bedroom/study. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a separate bath. There is also a downstairs cloakroom.
Internet is by fibre broadband and has a very good speed. The smart TV also makes use of the many internet programmes, Prime TV and Netflix.
The separate utility room has a modern washer dryer.
We have an open plan kitchen/dining/family space with outlooks to the rear. (See photos)
There is a separate sitting room with TV.
In the garage we have two good bikes and there are lots of cycle tracks to explore in the close vicinity. We tend to travel by bike or bus into York. There is lots of safe cycling in the immediate area.
About the location
Copmanthorpe is a lively village with excellent public transport (buses) into York, three miles away. Buses also run to Leeds and from York station, trains run frequently to London (2 hours journey to Kings Cross) and Edinburgh (also two hours).
The village has a good C of E church, a modern library, and the doctors and dentist are close at hand. In addition the Indian Takeaway and Restaurant are well regarded.
Our small estate sits about 4 minutes walk away from all these amenities and the local shops include a Co-op supermarket, Post Office, chemist and tea rooms.
York needs little introduction for its historical significance; the National Rail Museum, Cliffords Tower, The Viking Centre, The Minster are all nationally renowned but there are many more interesting aspects to the City which are worth exploring.
Beyond York, the East Coast towns of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are an hour or so drive away. The Lake District is about 2 and a half hours. Harrogate and Knareborough are about 40 minutes drive away and are also worth a visit.
Leeds is our nearest large city and is 40 minutes in the car. It has theatres, performing venues and sporting arenas.
