Cosy house in Victoria, BC
With Victoria's mild climate (nothing like the rest of Canada!) you'll find our house bright, cheerful and warm in the winter, and almost never overwarm in summer. The main floor has glowing Douglas fir flooring throughout and includes a well-designed updated kitchen with table and stools for two, a separate dining room as well as bedroom, bathroom (sink, toilet and walk-in shower) and living room. The kitchen door opens to a two-level deck overlooking our fenced back garden, full of flowers, shrubs and vegetables; other seating areas let you follow the sun around or find a nice shady spot to rest. While our house is ideal for the two of us, we can put a queen-sized air bed in the large carpeted music room downstairs to provide additional sleeping accommodation if needed. The second bathroom (sink, toilet and walk-in shower), kitchen and laundry are also downstairs. The front garden is now fenced to keep out the urban deer - they're lovely to look at, but with this mesh fence you can admire them without any concerns and they can't damage our garden!
This is our only home but we have done several non-simultaneous swaps, so let us know if that's what you're looking for.
About the location
Our home is in a lovely, quiet residential neighbourhood 15 minutes by car or 20 minutes by bus from the lively centre of Victoria, the capital of the Province of British Columbia. With bus stops just a few minutes away from us many visitors find it easier to leave their car at home and walk from our house into town along the stunning waterfront, with views of the Olympic Mountains along the way. We're also just a short walk to beaches and parks as well as the shops, restaurants, cafes, library and community centre of Oak Bay Village. Everyone loves the world-renowned Butchart Gardens, and a little further afield you can sign on with whale- or bear-watching tours. Ferries sail from Victoria to Vancouver, the Gulf Islands, and to Seattle and Port Angeles, both in Washington State.
Victoria is a lovely small city with the mildest climate in Canada, rarely too hot or too cold. You can take a 30 minute direct flight to ski in Whistler, and be golfing in Victoria that same day - we have many world-class golf courses open year-round.
