Mid-terrace townhouse, Abingdon town centre

Our house is a 4-bedroom family town house, dating from the mid-19th century but updated inside. We live here with our two young children.

There are two parking spaces in a shared private car park behind the house.

The open plan living/dining room/kitchen has French windows which open onto the garden. There is a piano here too, and lots of books.

The garden is small but big enough to eat outside or to use our paddling pool. There is a small basement room containing the washing machine/tumble dryer.

The first floor has the main double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, and another bedroom with a sofa bed and en-suite bathroom. This room is our work-from-home office.

There are two spacious children's rooms on the second floor, with another bathroom.

There are lots of toys and craft equipment for children to use!

About the location

We are on a quiet street in the very centre of Abingdon-on-Thames. You can walk to all the shops you'll need and be on the Thames Path in 10 minutes.

In under 10 minutes' walk you will find: river walks and cycling along the Thames, boating, a riverside pub (and pubs aplenty), an independent cinema, independent cafés (including cream teas by the river), bookshops, regular markets, plus restaurants and a craft beer shop. In summer there is an outdoor pool; an excellent playground and an indoor soft play are also very close. The main leisure centre is 6 minutes by car, with lots of indoor and outdoor tennis courts as well as a pool and gym. The golf course is a 9-minute drive away.

In the vicinity… You can boat or cycle to Oxford, or take a 20min bus ride. Oxford is limitless. There is the University and colleges, Bodleian Library, museums (Ashmolean, Natural History, Pitt Rivers, History of Science, the wonderful Story Museum, the Museum of Oxford, Modern Art), Port Meadow, University Parks, Christ Church Meadow, punting.

By car you can visit picturesque villages like Dorchester or Ardington, and of course the wonderful Cotswolds are not far away either, including Crocodiles Of The World and the Cotswold Wildlife Park. For railway fans, try the Didcot Railway Centre and Pendon Museum. Millets Farm has falconry, animals, a maze, pick-your-own, as well as playground, soft play, garden centre, café and excellent farm shop. Cogges Manor Farm is another treat.

National Trust properties nearby are Greys Court, Nuffield Place, and Waddesdon Manor. Kelmscott Manor and the very impressive Blenheim Palace are also close. Bicester Village offers outlet shopping.

For scenery, the Wittenham Clumps have splendid views. There are nature reserves all around. The Ridgeway is easily accessible, and the White Horse Hill at Uffington is a particular highlight.

London is easy by train from adjoining village Radley, or you have more choices from Didcot. Winchester is close by; the South Coast and Bristol are also in striking distance.
