House at Hive Beach
Our house is a 3 minutes walk from the beach. It is a bright detached house by the sea in Dorset, England. There are two living rooms, three bedrooms, with a family bathroom upstairs and a large shower-room with walk-in shower downstairs. One bedroom has a good view of the sea and some other rooms have glimpses. The house is a 1950s dormer bungalow with beech-wood floors downstairs, wood-burning stove, gas cooker.
The large and rather wild garden is fun for kids with a trampoline, big swing/slide set, and an area of apple orchard. There is a large deck with table and chairs at the back of house and another sitting area at the back of the garden.
The sea is a 3 minute walk from the house. The house is on a quiet road leading to Hive Beach and the fields and hills of the National Trust's Burton Bradstock site.
The house is a lived-in family house and the decor isn't perfect!
We have a pair of guinea pigs for which we can leave food & instructions, or else a neighbour can look after them if guests would prefer that.

About the location
The house is on edge of the village of Burton Bradstock - a lovely traditional English village of old cottages, many with thatched roofs. The village has two great pubs, and a few minutes walk away is the Hive Beach Cafe - famous for its seafood - and next to that is a stylish cliff-top bar and restaurant at the Seaside Boarding House.
The nearest beach Hive Beach, a 3 minute walk away, which is a shingle beach and part of the 20-mile long Chesil Beach.
Two miles away is the lively small market town of Bridport, which has lots of independent shops, twice-weekly markets, and good places to eat.
Within 30 minutes drive are the seaside towns of Weymouth (a traditional English seaside town with wide sandy beach) and Lyme Regis (with historic harbour and famous for fossil hunting). Between, the coastline is dramatic and varied, with great walking trails along cliffscapes and long shingle beaches. It is part of the Jurassic Coast - a UNESCO World Heritage Site - which also covers Purbeck with places like Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.
