Extended Victorian Home in Central Cambridge

Our home is a recently modernised Victorian house (dating from 1880) on Mill Road within easy walking distance of the historic centre of Cambridge and in the vibrant Romsey district.

The house is over three stories. On the ground floor is a combined living and dining room; a separate sitting room; a kitchen and a utility room as well as access to the cellar. On the first floor, there is the Master bedroom (with super-king size bed) and two further double bedrooms (one en suite with a roll top bath) and a toilet/shower room. On the second floor under the eaves, there is a double bedroom, a study with Mac computer and a newly installed wetroom. The kitchen gives access to a private courtyard garden with a table and chairs for outdoor dining when the weather permits and a BBQ.

Our shed is home to multiple bicycles (Male; female; cargo bike; foldable bike and bike trailer) which could be used throughout the stay.

About the location

Cambridge is a fantastic place to visit, with plenty to do for people of all ages and interests. The city centre has several acclaimed museums (including the Fitzwilliam Museum; the Scott Polar Research Institute and Kettle's Yard art gallery). The city also hosts a multitude of cultural events, such as the Folk Festival, Shakespeare in the gardens, the Cambridge beer festival and much more. The river Cam runs through the city and provides opportunities for walks to Grantchester orchard or punting past the Colleges. During the Summer, Cambridge lido is a popular outdoor swimming spot while there are plenty of local splashpads for children to cool down.

Within a short drive from Cambridge is the Imperial War Museum (Duxford) and several National Trust properties as well as beautiful villages (with cosy pubs and quaint beer gardens) such as Reach, Histon and Lode. The Fen cycleway is listed amongst the top routes for trail cycling in the UK. Newmarket, the home of the national stud and Newmarket race course, is a 30 minute drive.

The house itself is situated in the heart of Romsey district, on the corner of Mill Road and Ross Street. Within close proximity are the excellent local cafes, a bakery, an organic supermarket, several of Cambridge's most highly regarded restaurants (including Fancett's and Limoncello) and Calvery's brewery.

The newly opened Chisholm Trail provides a pedestrian/cycle route to the river and north Cambridge while the city centre is a 15 minute walk or four stops on the bus (which leaves from outside the house).

Cambridge railway station (with four fast trains to London an hour) is within a 15 minute walk. There is on-street parking outside the house (on Ross Street).
