About the location

It is located in the quiet crofting hamlet of Kilbride on the Isle of Skye, where sheep and cattle roam freely.

Kilbride is surrounded by the famous Red Cuillin hills with views of the dramatic Bla Bheinn (Blaven) ridge.

Abundant local wildlife includes red deer, buzzards, golden and sea eagles, otters, seals and dolphins.

Shops, restaurants and fuel are 4 miles away in Broadford.

The loft is a short walk from Loch Slapin, a sea loch, and the lovely bay of Camus Malag, with stunning views of the Small Isles, Bla Bheinn (Blaven) and the red Cuillin hills.

Kilbride is located in the old district of Strath, an area rich in geology, pre-history and archaeology.

High Pasture cave, one of Scotland’s foremost archeological sites, is just a 15 minute walk away.

Also close by is a pre-Christian standing stone, known as Clach na h-Annait (“stone of the chief or church”). This stone is believed to have been part of a Neolithic stone circle.

Skye has many activities for the photographer or outdoor enthusiast. These include hiking, hill walking, mountain climbing, camping, fishing, boat trips, kayaking and open water swimming.

The property is located on the route of a well-known 11 mile circular walk which passes through the deserted villages of Suisinish and Borreraig. These villages were abandoned during the Highland Clearances.

In good weather, regular boat trips run from Elgol to Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cuillin mountain range. Loch Coruisk was voted by National Geographic as one of the 10 most beautiful locations in the world.

Marine life such as seals, porpoises, dolphins and whales can often be seen on these boat trips, depending on the time of year.

Skye also has many art and craft galleries, cafes and restaurants.

Nearest electric vehicle (EV) charge point is in Broadford Co-op car park and there is a fast-charge point on the Skye bridge. There is no EV charge point at the property.

Public transport on Skye is limited., there are buses from Broadford to Elgol and / or Glasnakille.

There are regular Citylink buses from Broadford to various destinations, e.g. Inverness and Glasgow.

The nearest train station is 15 miles away at Kyle of Lochalsh.

The nearest airport is Inverness- approximately 100 miles, or two and a half hours drive, away.

There is a regular ferry service between Mallaig, on the mainland, and Armadale on Skye in good weather. Armadale is about 30 minutes drive away.
