Thatched Georgian house in the rolling hills of Devon.
We live in a five bedroom Georgian thatched house that is grade 2 listed for its original windows and interior woodwork. It is packed full of character with lots of space for a bustling family. It's equally at home being a tranquil space where you can enjoy a good book relaxing by a window looking out over the Devon hills.
The house has a large modern kitchen, a dining room, lounge and a small, cozy snug. There is a large bathroom and an additional shower room, both installed in the last few years. The house has two large bedrooms with super king size beds in each and three smaller children's rooms with singles. The snug has a double sofa bed, if you did want more sleeping space. The scullery and larder, combined with the two staircases and working internal servants buzzers (1950s) make it quite a unique and interesting house that we really enjoy living in.
The south facing enclosed garden has a number of different areas with a patio, a pergola, a plant house with a sofa and plenty of lawn for lounging. There is a BBQ, pellet grill and campfire, so there are also plenty of options for cooking outside.
The garden office has a sofa and chairs and space for crafting and in the garage there is a table tennis table. There is plenty of off road parking.
Whether you're inside or out, there's always somewhere to find a spot for enjoying the views and relaxing.
We have two cats we'd like you to feed, but they're no trouble and very friendly.
About the location
Bradninch is a small town in mid Devon with a friendly pub and a small Spar shop. There is a regular bus into Exeter (10 miles to the south), or it's a 25 minute drive.
Being in mid-Devon means there is a lot of choice for where to go (we'd recommend a car). In under an hours drive you can be relaxing on the beaches of the south coast (including Lyme Regis and Branscombe), or hiking on Dartmoor or Exmoor.
In 75 minutes you can be at the north Devon beaches of Croyde or Woolacombe.
Alternatively you can stay closer to home and enjoy hikes across the Devon hills to the nearby town of Silverton or visit the National Trust house at Killerton.
