Large Edwardian House in Kendal opening out onto a communal green with views of the county town of Kendal and surrounding hills. It is a pleasant 15 minute walk from Kendal Town Centre or a 5 minute drive.

Our spacious family home has four double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms 2 reception rooms, dining room and a large kitchen / breakfast room. To the front there are expansive open views to the east over Kendal town. You can even see the medieval ruins of Kendal castle. This really is one of the prime locations in Kendal.

The house has been recently modernised and has a new well equipped kitchen/breakfast room with a gas fired AGA and double doors opening onto an walled garden with seating, a chiminea, and gas and charcoal barbecues. It has 3 modern bathrooms with good showers, and a WC and separate laundry area off the kitchen. The house is fully double glazed and has gas central heating, open fires and a log burner. There are three separate seating area in the front and rear gardens for al fresco dining or just relaxing outside. There is a separate dining room cum study and two comfortable reception rooms. One on the ground floor and one on the first floor.

There is ample parking front and back,. The large front garden steps down to a large and very attractive communal green where the local wool manufacturers used to dye and dry the local cloth on tenterhooks in Georgian and Victorian times. To the rear there are steps up to a large double garage and a rear access road with hard standing for parking.

About the location

Kendal is a thriving and picturesque market town in North West England, It is on the edge of the Lake District National Park and known locally as the gateway to the Lakes. It has local shops, cafes, restaurants and several good pubs. It has 4 supermarkets, a weekly local market and farmer’s markets and the Brewery Arts Centre has a cinema and regular live music and theatre events. It also has 2 golf courses - one hilly and one flat! The very scenic and historic Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are just a short drive away which make it a great base for outdoor activities such as sailing, hiking and mountain biking. It is within 20 minutes of the M6 motorway which runs from Birmingham to Glasgow. The West Coast mainline railway station runs through Oxenholme Lake District train station with direct trains to London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester. There is a local train to Windermere from Kendal station or you can take the 555 bus through the centre of the Lakes to Keswick - named by the Guardian as one the top ten most picturesque bus journeys in Britain.
