About the location

Taddington is situated high up in the White Peak and conveniently close to Ashford-in-the-Water and to Buxton and Bakewell. The views from the village are sensational and the opportunities for walkers are endless throughout the limestone dales that surround Taddington. There are also excellent cycling routes with The Monsal Trail close by, being a firm favourite.

We are close to the beautiful Monsal Dale, the stepping stones of Chee Dale, Millers Dale, Lathkill Dale and Deep Dale are all within easy reach. Within a short drive are Mam Tor, Dove Dale and Kinder Scout if you want to experience some of the country's finest hill walking.

Taddington is a friendly working village with a local pub and the Bramwell Institute which holds regular events including film nights and live & local events. Our cottage is opposite the 14th Century St Michaels & All Angels Church which has the remains of a 7th Century Celtic Cross in the churchyard.

We are equidistant (6 miles or 10 min drive) from both Bakewell and Buxton. Bakewell is a charming bustling village with a thriving weekly market. It is a great place for a meal out and to pick up some local speciality produce. Chatsworth House, one of Derbyshire's most splendid country estates, is easily accessible from Bakewell and has numerous events throughout the year.

Buxton is a Victorian Spa town with grand architecture including The Crescent, Opera House and The Spa Baths, along with the 18 hole Cavendish Golf Course. You will find that Buxton meets all your shopping needs and is a lovely place for lunch or an evening out. There are frequent bus routes from Taddington to Buxton, Bakewell and further afield.

Slightly further afield are the cities of Sheffield & Manchester which open up a whole new set of options for leisure, sport, shopping and nightlife.
