Bridlington Street Hunmanby Filey Yorkshire

Built around 1800 as a farmhouse, we are in the centre of the lovely village of Hunmanby close to Filey and the East Yorkshire Coast. The accommodation is over two floors.

Upstairs
There are two comfortable first floor double bedrooms available for use. Bedroom One has a Super King size bed. Bedroom 2 has a King size bed.
There is a bathroom with 3-piece suite upstairs and downstairs is a wet-room with a toilet and rain shower.
Access between the two floors is via a steep staircase, so would not be suitable for anyone with serious mobility issues.

Downstairs
On the ground floor is a well-equipped kitchen furnished with all the usual necessities; fridge, freezer, microwave, and a large five burner gas cooker. Adjacent to the kitchen is a comfortable conservatory area, which looks out on to the terraced garden. There is room here to relax in comfortable chairs or enjoy breakfast at the small table.
Also, on the ground floor is a large living/dining room with cosy sofas to seat 6 and a dining table seating 6/8.

There is internet throughout the house, and a Smart T.V. in the lounge with Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime and Disney channels available.

The solid fuel/wood burner in the lounge provides cosiness in the colder weather. The lounge is cool during the summer due to the thick stone walls.

There is good central heating throughout the cottage, with underfloor heating in the conservatory area.
A utility room with washer and dryer is adjacent to the wet room.

Outside

There is a private south facing terraced garden accessible from both the lounge and the conservatory. This is pretty and well-kept with two seating areas. Table, chairs, and barbeque are available for use in the garden.

We have a dog and a cat and the house is suitable and safe for animals.

There is off street parking for two cars through the double gates. It is a tight squeeze for larger cars. There is on street parking available close by.

About the location

Hunmanby is a small pretty village of about 3,000 people. It has two active churches, four pubs (including the famous Piebald Inn). It also has a post office, a hardware shop, an optician, a chemist, a delicatessen, and the most marvellous fish and chip shop. The house is immediately opposite the Co-op which we use as our store cupboard! A short distance up the road is the Filey Gin and Whisky distillery.

There are hourly bus services round the area from just outside the house, and Hunmanby Railway Station is half a mile away. This is on the Yorkshire Coast Line which runs regularly between Sheffield, Hull, and Scarborough.

2 miles from Hunmanby is Filey, with five miles of sandy beaches and the famous Filey Brigg. A lovely seaside town with plenty of cafes and independent shops Filey is worth a visit. The beach can be accessed at various points but nearest to us is Hunmanby Gap, 2 miles away.

Also nearby is Bempton a small village, well known for its cliffs and seabird colonies, and home to the Bempton RSPB reserve. Flamborough Head, with its wonderful cliffs, coves and lighthouse is 5 miles away.

Safe, sandy beaches, traditional beach amusements and swimming pools can also be found at Bridlington and Scarborough- both about 8 miles away from Hunmanby.

The Yorkshire Wolds walking and cycling trails, which have recently been the inspiration for the local artist David Hockney, are less than a mile from the house.

The Cities of York, Hull and Beverley, and the North Yorkshire Moors are all within a reasonable car journey (less than an hour) from the cottage.

This is a truly magical place to live, and a great base to explore and get to know this part of Yorkshire.
