Wee Scottish house

My house is a typical Scottish stone house on the banks of the River Tweed. It’s on a quiet residential road with views across the hills from the front.

The house has recently been refurbed with a new kitchen and bathroom. It has delightful roomy bedroom with super views. Downstairs offers an l shaped lounge/diner. There is a snug room and shed outside and a back garden with fruit trees. The wee house has a wood burner and a comfortable cosy feel about it.

Walkerburn is an old mill town with a small shop and social club. There are several walks you can do from the house and it is on the cycle path to Innerleithen (1 mile away) and Peebles (6 miles away). It lies in the heart of mountain bike routes with the world famous Glentress centre (4 miles away).

About the location

The tweed valley is a beautiful lesser known part of scotland. It has lovely walks in the rolling hills (500m) and along the tweed (where there is salmon fishing).

My house is on the banks of the River Tweed and an hour drive or bus journey from Edinburgh, 15 minutes drive or bus to the Borders town of Peebles, and 10 minutes from Galashiels where there is a railway station.

Walkerburn is an old mill town with a small shop and local social club. My house is on the cycle path to Innerleithen (where there is a small supermarket, cafes and facilities) and the mountain bike centre Glentress. It’s in the middle of mountain bike routes in the area. There is a resident osprey and lots of sand martins along the bank of the river.

It is a good spot both to go to Edinburgh for the day or to spend in nature as you open the front door.
