Bath, Somerset, England

Our home is a pretty Victorian town house in Bath Somerset, a World Heritage Site. We are 10 minutes walk to the famous Roman Baths and Abbey. Our house is in a quiet street sandwiched between the River Avon and the Kennet and Avon canal. The National Trust Bathwick fields are minutes walk away. Its an ideal mix of City, Culture and Countryside.

Downstairs is the living/dining room, a kitchen plus a wc. We have a private cottage rose garden opening off from the kitchen with patio and seating areas. At the rear of the garden is a garage with parking. Upstairs there are 3 double bedrooms. A Master suite with a superking size double bed, ensuite shower room and walk in wardrobe, on the same level there is a twin room with a cot. Down a few steps is a double bedroom and a small family bathroom with a small bath and a shower over. As our home has lots of stairs it may not suit someone with limited mobility.

About the location

We are a 10 minute easy walk from Bath Spa mainline railway station. Bristol is 10 minutes and London Paddington about 1hr 30 mins by train.

We live in the safe and friendly neighbourhood of Widcome, with its own array of independent shops, cafes and supermarket, the centre of which is a short walk along the canal.
In the city of Bath, world renowned for its Georgian architecture and literary connections to Jane Austen, there is cafe culture galore. The city has many museums, galleries and theatres. Enjoy the buskers which provide great free entertainment every day of the week. The Mayor’s guides offer free guided walks of the city. Bookshops, I forgot to mention bookshops, Bath has so many to browse.
On the other side of the canal are the wide open fields of Bathwick where you can pick up the Skyline walk or you can amble and take a picnic. Sunsets over Bath are superb viewed from the fields. National Trust Prior Park can be easily accessed by foot from our home. The towpath provides flat level walking to Bradford on Avon, 8 miles or so, you can even catch train back. We have two electric bikes at your disposal.
Further afield we would recommend a visit to the American Museum and gardens about 3 miles away and can be accessed by bus. By car visit National Trust Great Chalford Manor, a Tudor Manor and the backdrop to many a television adaptations and Lacock Abbey used in the Harry Potter fims.
