The Cottage, Banbury Cross

My home is a small quirky cottage next to Banbury Cross and very near the centre of the town. It has a bedroom on the first floor with a double bed which I also use as my office and a newly renovated bathroom.

On the ground floor I have a lounge room with lots of seating, a kitchen which includes a dishwasher, oven , induction hot plates microwave and fridge/freezer, There is also a utility room with a washing machine, shoe rack, coat hooks, etc. There is no dryer, however.

From the kitchen, you access my walled garden which is a lovely sun trap and there is a table and garden chairs.

Access to the property is via a passage through a gate on to the street and is behind an estate agent shop/office and photographer's shop at the front.

Even though it is right next to a busy traffic area, it is very quiet once you close the front door. There is a child care centre next door which is quite noisy when it`s open but if you don`t mind the sounds of children, it is quite pleasant.

There is no parking at the property but there is paid parking in the immediate vicinity. However, you don`t really need a car as everything in the town is within walking distance. I also have an e-bike available for use.

About the location

Banbury is an old market town in the Cherwell District of North Oxfordshire. It has a wonderful history and many interesting places to visit in the surrounding area. Within the town there are some lovely pubs and restaurants, a shopping centre called Castle Quay and a cinema and entertainment complex called The Light. Banbury is famous for its canal area and Tooley`s Boatyard which has existed since the 18th century. There is a museum and information centre accessed via the shopping centre.

Public transport is close by and very good. Local buses pass nearby including to Oxford, Chipping Norton, Stratford-upon-Avon. The bus station for buses going in other directions is a 5 minute walk and the railway station with a regular train service to Birmingham, London and the South Coast, a couple of minutes beyond that.
