Note, as this an older house which was originally two cottages, the stairs go to a half landing which splits the two halves and there is a small further flight of steps going to each side. The two bedrooms have coombed ceilings. The dressing room and office have velux windows.

The garden is large and flat with a gravel area outside the house for dining. There is a large shed at the end of the garden which could be used for bike storage.

Parking is on the road outside and freely available.

About the location

Huntly is a historic market town in West Aberdeenshire about halfway between Aberdeen and Inverness on the A96. It has all the conveniences of a small town; two large supermarkets, a train station with regular trains to Aberdeen and Inverness a ten minute walk from the house and a thriving town centre two minutes walk away. Number 30 in the square is an independent cinema and cafe, there`s also the Whisky exchange, a community bookshop and many independent shops including grocers and butchers. A farmers market takes place in the square on the first sunday of the month. The Bank is a lovely cafe/restaurant. We can provide details of other places to eat from cafes to pub grub to fine dining.

There is a nordic ski centre based in the castle park by the River Deveron a ten minute walk away and the riverside park provides lovely walks with views to the surrounding hills and fields. Huntly castle is well worth a visit and is a pleasant walk down the avenue of less than ten minutes. The route takes you past the golf course and swimming pool.

Huntly is ideally situated for exploring the Moray Coast, Deeside and the Cairngorms. It is just over an hour to Inverness and Loch Ness and a little less to the lively city of Aberdeen.

Braemar and Ballater, home of Balmoral are just over an hour away and can be found via Tomintoull, the highest village in the Highlands and one of Queen Victoria`s favourite spots.

We are also spoilt for choice of castles with Leith Hall just 7 miles away and many others within a 40 minute drive. Huntly is on the castle trail.

Beautiful sandy beaches are half an hour away at Banff and you can sample Cullen skink and walk along the coast to bow fiddle rock, or enjoy the amny antique shops in Cullen. There are many picturesque fishing villages to explore including Crovie which clings to the cliff face and Pennan famous as the setting for the film Local Hero. Watersports and surfing are available at Sandend. All are only about 40 minutes away.

Aviemore, Lecht ski centre and Cairngorm mountain are all about an hour from the house.

We are ideally placed for exploring the many distilleries in the area including the Glenfiddich estate in Speyside.
For wildlife lovers there are seals at Newburgh just along the coast from Aberdeen which swim into the lagoon right next to walkers on the sandy beach. There is also the Scottish Dolphin Centre near Fochabers only 20 minutes away and many beautiful walks along the Spey.

Closer to Huntly there are many lovely walks in woods and hikes up Bennachie, the highest point in the northeast, tap o` noth and Ben Rinnes.

In short, plenty to see and do for outdoor sports and history enthusiasts alike without the crowds of many other places in Scotland.
